Its inhabitants have enriched their cultures through a constant process of contact with diverse and complex ecosystems existing in the Cordillera, overcoming great obstacles and reaching a surprising level of development in spite of the scarcity of resources available. These peoples have domesticated plants and animals since ancient times. They are mystical, religious individuals who worship Mother Earth, mountains, rivers and lakes as part of their traditions. As inhabitants of a mountainous region of impressive and wild beauty; they are eager to take part in experiences oriented towards exchange and collaboration for the preservation of nature and tourism development at the Huascaran National Park. Join MOUNTCLIMB TRAVEL AND ADVENTURE and help create an increasing level of awareness among peoples of cultures from the most remote corners of the earth, thereby encouraging the preservation of the Cordillera Blanca ecosystem for future generations.

The Olleros - Chavin trek, located on the south side of the Cordillera Blanca, is one of the circuits that is visited yearly with the intent of seeing the pre - Inca trail leading to the archeological site which houses the Chavin de Huantar Temple . Its paths were built in an amazing manner, since certain stone steps and sidewalks contain sculpted segments. In other areas, builders had the arduous labor of mountain heavy rock slabs one on top of another in order to level the uneven terrain in this part of the mountain range. Undoubtedly, ancient Pre-Inca cultures were not lacking in architectural ingenuity or man power to finish complex structures. The contrast that arises with the impressive mountainous scenery is truly beautiful, not only because it is a display of indigenous architecture and landscapes along the route, but also because Chavin ancestors deliberately designed it this way. This provides for a series of extraordinary visual experiences which reach its zenith when encountering the Chavin de Huantar Temple , built in 1200 B.C. It has been determined to be the most important and oldest Peruvian culture. For this reason, it served as a foundation for the civilizations of ancient Peru . The Chavin Empire expanded until it encompassed a great part of Peruvian territory at the time. Its artistic influence reached the Ecuadorian Andes to the north, the Bolivian Moxos to the south as well as Nazca, Chimu or Mochica and Paracas on the coast .

The Chavin Temple is a remarkable archeological monument. It is capable of causing admiration in locals and visitors. It consists of pyramidal buildings and a group of terraces with large patios reaching the Mosna River .
