It is carried out mainly on vertical surfaces, that is, rock walls steeper than 60º where it becomes indispensable to use hands and feet to make progress. Its main objective is to apply the teaching-learning process to utilize means to end the route, taking advantage of natural accidents on the rock (ledges, ramps and cavities) like points to grab hold of or support oneself on. These are usually of different shapes and sizes. Learning how to lodge the body securely during the climbing process is part of the lessons. This is done by inserting hands or feet partially or completely in cracks of different sizes in order to ascend without hurting oneself.
